So I do flower deliveries and this is what I’m doing full time now because Corona hit the fan here in Australia . Two days ago me and my manager was talking about the Business and how the virus affected the flower business ,and if you are not aware ,the flower industry is BOOMING here in Australia . People send each other flowers because they cant meet each other in person and the government still hasn’t shut the industry down because they believe they need these kind of operations alive to keep the moral up . As a psychology undergrad I believe this is a darn good tactic .
But here is the catch ,there are about 2000 florist around the country ,but only few are open given the current circumstances ,and my manager told me the reason why WE as a collective have our jobs is because Rose Only Australia (the company that I work for ) has a website ,so that people dont have to go to the florist (They cant because most of them are closed),they can just go to the Rose Only Australia website https://www.rosesonly.com.au/ and just pick the flowers they want and send it to their loved ones .
This got me thinking ,they understood the value of internet and the current trends so they invested in their website ,social media and what not to make the process easier for the typical Australian buyer . Their smart and futuristic thinking made them stand out from their competition during a time of crisis ,while majority of Florists in Australia had to abandon their business because of the Corona LOCK DOWN ,Roses Only remained open because they were an online business . The only difference between other florists and these guys was the lack of availability ,in this case a WEBSITE .
So if you are just starting out or you are a small business ,PLEASE ,PLEASE I’m begging you ,immediately start working on your website ,if your business doesn't have an online store ,please pay a web designer and set it up immediately . You could be the best at what you do but if your customers cannot reach you ,whats the point of you being in Business . Think smart ,be smart and stay safe .
